LAKE INVASIVE WEED ASSESSMENTS - SADs (Special Assessment Districts)

A Special Assessment is a charge against property for a public improvement that confers a special benefit to that property different from the benefit enjoyed by the general public.  Special Assessments can be used for bridges, garbage/refuse pick-up, lake weed spraying, and many other projects.  Sauble Township has three (3) Special Assessment Districts (SADs) initiated by lakefront property owners and/or lake associations to fund INVASIVE WEED CONTROL programs on the lakes.

Elk Township is the official owner of the SAD and Sauble Township contributes their portion to Elk Township.

The current SAD expires at the end of this year.

On March 8, 2021, Sauble Township approved the Resolution to initiate a SAD.

Loon Lake has a SAD for Weed Control in place initiated by the Loon Lake Property Owners Association.

The 1st Public Hearing was Saturday, September 10, 2022, 9:00 AM, at the Sauble Township Hall for approval of the creation of the SAD.  The Sauble Township Board of Trustees answered questions and there were no objections.  The Sauble Township Board approved the creation of the SAD by Resolution on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the regular board meeting.

The 2nd Public Hearing is Saturday, October 1, 9 AM, at the Sauble Township Hall for approval of the Assessment Roll.
